ALBANY — The local DSA chapter announced Tuesday it will voluntarily vacate its newly won city council seat, arguing governing requires compromise incompatible with total systemic overhaul. Members expressed relief at returning to full-time opposition. "Governing is administering capitalism," said organizer Elena Rosales. "We prefer protesting. Winning makes us the enemy."

The seat will remain empty until the next cycle.
