BEIJING — President Trump arrived at the Great Hall of the People Thursday morning but declined to exit his motorcade until Chinese officials provided a printed schedule for the day's meetings with President Xi Jinping.

Soldiers lined the street holding red and gold flags as aides negotiated the document handover. Once the paper was delivered and reviewed, the president stepped out and entered the building for the talks.
