TEHRAN — Foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stressed Monday that Iran’s right to enrich uranium is an inalienable, sovereign entitlement that “already exists” and “cannot be placed on any negotiating table,” before clearing his schedule for an intensive three-day negotiation session about which specific centrifuges would remain spinning and at what speed.
“This right is absolute, inherent, and not subject to discussion — we will be discussing it in room 14B at the Coburg Hotel starting at 9 a.m. sharp,” Baghaei told reporters, adding that the Islamic Republic’s position remains “unchanged and firmly non-negotiable, subject to minor adjustments pending the afternoon coffee break.”
The spokesman confirmed that the right itself was categorically off the table, which had been specially reserved for talks about enrichment levels, stockpile caps, inspection protocols, and whether the Fordow facility counts as a right or more of a hobby.
