SAN FRANCISCO — Uber confirmed Wednesday that staff reductions will now be executed through the consumer app's 'Cancel Ride' interface. This allows managers to dismiss employees with the same frictionless ease as abandoning a waiting driver. "It felt inefficient to have a human deliver the news," said VP of People Operations Gary Linden. "Humans bleed budget. The button bleeds nothing. If a driver is discarded for latency, an accountant is discarded for cost."
