WASHINGTON — The Department of Government Efficiency awarded a $400 million dissolution contract to a shell company owned by its board, citing bidding processes requiring six months of meetings.
Officials stated the overhead ensured the shutdown met compliance standards for ending unnecessary spending. "We couldn't just stop working; we needed a structured pathway to non-existence," said Director Vance Lockett.
